Creative Writing Tips Part 1: The 5 Useful Senses of Humans

Now, Imagine it's a brand new day. You wake up, you look out of the window, what do you see outside the window? Birds saying hello to you, or birds teasing you. What do you smell outside? The great smell of a particular flower or the vomiting smell of your dog's poop. Ask yourself these questions. The 5 senses are always very useful when it comes to creative writing, what you see, smell, taste, touch and hear can be applied to your story.

Now, imagine you are in this haunted house and you need to escape. When you walk around, you will most likely see scary painting hung on the wall, skeletons and halloween pumpkins. It would definitely smell dingy in there, like it's never been washed for months. You wont taste anything unless you trip, fall down and eat dust, that is certainly unpleasant. You may have itchy hands and run your hands over the wall and a lot of dust would accumulate on your hand. Haunted houses are very creepy and you would hear the sounds of thunder, screeching and even what you may think as the cackles of the witch living in it. Then you find the exit and quickly run out of the place. Phew! What a relief! When you want to write a scary story, you can think of this scene and you will definitely be able to visualise the scary scene.

Good luck, Fellow Writers.
